Andrew and Melissa are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards. As they age and as their separate lives wend their ways through marriages, affairs, careers, children, and loss, their bond remains. Through their years of letters, shared with the audience by two actors, we come to understand how much they really meant to each other over the years—physically apart, perhaps, but spiritually as close as only true lovers can be.
