International Vulture Awareness Day at Ohio Bird Sanctuary

We will be celebrating during our normal business hours of 10:00am-4:00pm.  Meet our resident vultures during a presentation at 11:00am & 1:00pm.

Vulture themed activities and games will be located in and around our Field Classroom. Coloring Contest for all ages!

Vultures are nature’s most unappreciated character! As scavengers, they play a vital role in the food chain by acting as nature’s garbage men!

Unfortunately , many vulture species populations are not doing well.  Of the 23 vulture species in the world, 16 of them are considered endangered, vulnerable, or threatened. In some parts of the world, the number of vultures has declined by 90 percent! Conservation groups, especially in Asia and Africa, actively educate and advocate to protect the vultures.

We want everyone to know how incredible, interesting, and important vultures are! We hope you will come to the Sanctuary on September 10th to learn more about them!
