Farm-Fresh and Fun

Richland County’s agriculture heritage offers visitors the chance to experience how flowers and food are produced. Every March, guests of Malabar Farm’s Maple Syrup Festival discover firsthand how real maple syrup is made. Of course, tasting the fruits of their labor is the best part. Touring Malabar also gives new perspective to the evolution of the American farm.

In summer, local farm operations including The Blueberry Patch offer tours, shopping and the opportunity to pick your own raspberries and blueberries. Possum Run Greenhouse, Apple Hill Orchards and Wayne’s Country Market make great stops for farm-fresh produce, garden goods and gifts.  Eyestone Flower Farm in Bloomville takes visitors throught the flower fields for an up-close tour.

Then, tour the majestic Kingwood Center’s 47-acres of display gardens. The 40,000 tulips, 30,000 annuals, greenhouses, an orangery and woodland nature trials are spectacular. Classes and special events are also offered to the public.

Come experience the adorable alpacas while learning all about their history, care and luxurious fleece at Hidden Hilltop Alpaca Ranch.
