While visiting new locations, restaurants accommodating dietary limitations are probably the hardest thing to find. With an estimated 1 in 10 American adults having food allergies or intolerances, Mansfield is making sure to satisfy all sorts of dietary needs without abandoning flavor. Many of the local favorites, like City Grill & Bar, work with those coming in to dine by helping revise the menu options to accommodate anyone’s needs. Other restaurants, like Hudson & Essex, offer special menu items readily available for anyone to order.
Whether you can’t have cheese or don’t eat meat, Doc’s Deli offers sandwiches made to order. They also provide a gluten-free bread or can make most any sandwich into a lettuce wrap or salad. Build your own sandwich from a wide list of ingredients or choose a menu option. Their delicious “FAR L.E.F.T” sandwich features Flat Bread, Grilled Eggplant, Feta Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Black Olives, and Baba Ghanouj as a vegetarian sandwich option. This deli also offers yummy soup options for the vegan lifestyle.
The next time you are in Downtown Mansfield, vegetarians must try Athen’s Greek Restaurant’s Veggie Gyro followed by one of my personal favorites, the gluten-free Falafel.
Hudson and Essex might be new to Mansfield, but these newcomers are aware of the importance of offering food for all. They provide those living a gluten-free lifestyle with gluten-free sliced bread or buns. They also offer some “small plates” and “dinners” that cater to vegan or gluten-free diets.
After finishing your entrée, come on by to Apple Hill Orchard for a non-dairy Apple Dumpling. They offer a variety of pastries for those with nut allergies including their Apple Crisp or a Traditional Berry Pie. Apple Hill Orchard also has a delicious Vegan Apple Pie that you can buy by the slice or take the whole thing to go.
If you are not really a pastry person but are craving something to satisfy your sweet tooth, The Chill Ice Cream Parlor serves some lactose-free options you will love. Try their delicious Italian Ice or order a fruit-based, soft serve, Dole Whip. They also provide a variety of lactose-free smoothies.
When choosing a caterer for a large group, it is important to find great food and options that can fit everyone’s dietary restrictions.
