Visitors Share First Impression of Area

Research Shows First Impression of Area from Visitors

First Perceptions:
During a tourism research project by the CVB,  Respondents were asked the open-ended question, “What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Mansfield, Ohio area?” The word cloud represents all of the responses. The size of words represent the number of times that word/concept occurred in the responses.

The dominant responses with which respondents associate the Mansfield, Ohio area are “Reformatory” as well as “Shawshank Redemption,” or its variants “Prison,” and “Haunted Prisons,” the “Carousel,””Mid Ohio Racetrack,” “Bible Walk,” “Kingwood Gardens,” and its “history.” Unlike other destinations, responses indicate that a large portion of tourism consumers view the area as a diverse location with many activities, versus focusing on the destination simply because of its beauty or scenery. People seem to visit for the Shawshank Redemption connection and haunted prison, as well as because of other activities. Stay tuned as the CVB shares even more upcoming research facts.
