Shawshank and NASCAR – That’s what Mansfield Does!

NASCAR is returning to Ohio in 2013! With a NASCAR Camping World Trucks Series race at Eldora Speedway July 23-24 and a NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course August 16-17, the nation’s top motorsports league is back in Ohio for the first time in five years.
Through a coordinated effort between Nationwide Insurance, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Mid-Ohio, the NASCAR Nationwide Series is making its Ohio debut on Saturday, August 17. Don’t just watch it on ESPN, be there for the thrilling race from green flag to checkered. Sam Hornish, Elliot Sadler, Austin Dillon and the rest of the stars and up-and-comers in the Nationwide Series will be tested on the challenge road course at Mid-Ohio – one of just three they race at all season.
There’s a ton more to do in the area, so the lucky winner also gets a certificate for 3-lbs of frozen blueberries and admission to the Blueberry Festival in Lexington (August 15-18), a $20 certificate at Two Cousins’ Pizza in Lexington and admission to the Ohio State Reformatory – the perfect combination of tasty and terrifying.
It also includes a t-shirt from the Shawshank Trail, where you can relive the famous scenes and sets of the classic film Shawshank Redemption, filmed in and around Mansfield twenty years ago.
