Team WMFD Competes At Tough Mudder
By WMFD- TVApril 30, 2013
Perhaps the most challenging and certainly the muddiest event to ever come through Mansfield took place this weekend when Tough Mudder hosted their first ever event in the state of Ohio on Saturday and Sunday.
Mansfield Lahm Airport was the site for the nearly 11 mile course consisting of 22 obstacles, that saw well over 10,000 participants take on the self proclaimed "Toughest Event On The Planet", including a team of 4 representing WMFD TV.
"Team WMFD" was comprised of station employees Justin Baughman and Brian Skowronski, along with Mansfield residents Henry Richards and Kenton Oakley. The team ran through the course Saturday morning during the 10 a.m. wave and finished 4 hours 35 minutes later at 2:35 p.m.
Each member proudly sported the awarded orange headband with pride for the remainder of the day and had trouble getting off the couch the rest of the weekend.
The fastest time of the day was delivered by marathon runner Jason Mayeroff of Reno, Nevada, who completed the course in roughly 1 hour 45 minutes.
The Mansfield/Richland County Convention and Visitor's Bureau estimated a boom of $2.2 million into the area as a result of the event. Many area restaurants rewarded individuals who finished the difficult event with free food or discounts, a benefit Team WMFD was proud to take advantage of.
