Mansfield’s own Doc’s Deli has been chosen to be included in a new book to be released and sold nationally Eating Your Way Across Ohio – 101 Must Places To Eat, published by Acclaim Press and written by Dr. Karen Patterson.
Featured restaurants from across the state went through extensive review before being
included in the book. Doc’s Deli was evaluated based on: the quality and price of the food, atmosphere, location, cleanliness of the facility, the attentiveness of the staff, and, most importantly, the fact that it is locally owned. The author made a personal unannounced visit to Doc’s Deli to review the restaurant before she selected it for a two-page story in the book.
Restaurants included in the book are grouped into six geographic regions of Ohio as well as by city, enabling the traveler to always have a proven destination for great food. Though there are numerous types of eating establishments – bed & breakfasts, bistros, brasseries, buffets, cafés, delis, diners, drive-ins, grilles/grills, inns, lounges, pubs, ristorantes, roadhouses, saloons, steakhouses, taverns, and wineries – each have their own trademark dishes and/or unique menus offering a specific selection of food consistent with their theme. With the diversified eating preferences of most Americans, there is an eatery that will serve the perfect dish to match every taste.
Author Dr. Karen Patterson completed her Masters degree in Fine Arts at Spalding University, specializing in creative nonfiction writing, and has begun working on her doctorate in Adult Education. As a dedicated instructor of writing, journalism and communications at Ohio Christian University and Ohio University, she not only enjoys working with her students, who range in age from 16 to 76, but also the opportunity to tap into their natural creativity and encourage them to explore the world of the written word.
